    The Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) is based in Lemesos, Cyprus and has set as a strategic priority the design and implementation of research activities in an internal university level but also through the synergy and cooperation with Universities and Research Organizations in Cyprus and worldwide. The Department of Agricultural Science, Biotechnology and Food Science of the CUT is recently established – 2007 and fully equipped. CUT Academic personnel had a remarkable experience in the field of research, especially in the areas of Agriculture and Sustainability (Lab of Vegetables and Aromatic Plants-VAP) as well as Food Science (Lab of Food Microbiology and Technology-FMT), from previous participation in many related to the topic projects.

    The research contacted is mainly focused in the following areas:

    • Best Agriculture Practices and plant requirements and soil preservation.
    • Crop Science and Technology
    • Aromatic and Medicinal Plants cultivation in Cyprus.  
    • Development of novel Postharvest Sanitation tools and fresh produce preservation
    • Food Science Technology and Biochemistry.
    • Application of Bacteriophage in food and veterinary diagnostics and in the biological control of bacterial diseases
    • Detection and control of Foodborne Pathogens and other important microorganisms in the food supply chain
    • Development of Novel Functional Foods and their shelf-life evaluation.
